This past week I decided to give a pot melt a try.   A pot melt, or aperture pour, is a way of creating a piece of swirley kiln formed glass using scrap glass.  I had high hopes for this experiment, and I gathered a bunch of purple, blue, turquoise, clear, green, and lime colored bullseye glass and piled it into a flower pot.  I carefully set the pot on stilts in my kiln, crossed my fingers, and fired up the kiln.  The trick is to get the glass so hot that it melts through the bottom of the flower pot onto a prepared kiln shelf.

After a long kiln firing schedule and long annealing period that lasted quite a few hours, I opened the kiln to find a dark and spacey mess!    I was disappointed in the results, since I love brightly colored pieces of glass, but I thought that I'd post a piece of it for fun.

I have recently joined a new team on etsy - the Etsy D Listers.   We're a group of artists with new shops that are trying to get off of the ground.  This has been a really fun and supportive group of artists with loads of fun ideas.

I was so excited to learn that I'm the featured artist on soulstone321's blog! http://etsydlist.blogspot.com/
Hooray!
